| 36) Posted by: Michael February 2, 2003 10:46 PM I have a DSC-S50, which is my second CyberShot camera. The manual says that the camera is limited to a maximum of 15 seconds worth of video. To adjust the brightness of your video viewfinder look for the round button that has the four arrows on it located to the left of the viewfinder screen as it sits in the back of the camera. It will bring up the on screen menu for various options and adjustments for your camera. Press the upper arrow on that button and then keep pressing the right side of the button until you highlight in yellow the setup option on your viewfinder screen. Press the center of the button will bring up a menu that has LCD BRIGHT at the bottom of the menu. Pressing the arrow up on the button will yellow highlight the LCD BRIGHT option. Arrow up on the button will highlight the - + and by pressing either the right or left arrows on the button will either decrease the increase the brightness of the viewfinder screen. As far as the camera drivers go, I have found it much easier to merely have a memory stick reader that have their own drivers to install. If you are not using the USB that the reader is plugged into, you can always leave it in for ready access to read off the stick instead of using the fragile plug and camera to plug into the computer for downloading the stick. |

I forgot to answer one other question that I noticed was asked concerning the length of time for the camera to take a picture when you press the button. Very slowly press the button until you hear two beeps. That will tell you that the camera is setting up for the shot. Hold the button down in that position and when you are ready, fully press the button. The picture taken will be immediate. Oh, and there is also a auto fire feature in which once the camera is set, will countdown from ten seconds before taking a picture or starting a video, great for self portraits or letting the camera settle down any vibrations from hands, tripod, wind, etc. |

Seriously I have found it much easier to get a memory stick reader for around 20 bucks (and cheaper if you look for sales), and use that. You have the advantage of knowing right from the start what operating systems they work with. You also can leave it plugged into your computer and not worry about using the somewhat fragile looking connector to connect your camera to your computer. Also if you get one of those keychain usb storage devices (anywhere from 64 megs to 256 megs and up), you have a easy way to share your photos without carrying around a cd. |

The camera will not focus and i have to have the object about 3 to 4 inches away from the caera to get a clear picture otherwise its blury, i tried to change things in the menu but i cant find anything in the menu that changes any thing for me. I own a Sony P32... great camera until I had a similar problem other people had on this forum... the camera says to power on and off again. I guess it is the lens acting up, either stuck or the motor is not working. Like others I only had this camera for 5 months but the labor warranty is only for 90 days. Sony wanted flat rate of 140 to fix (almost the cost of the camera new). As far as the other problems. If you buy a card reader (like someone else suggested) you won't need the drivers or the USB cord either! It's wonderful. There are different brands, Lexmark , Dazzle ect. For those having trouble with a black screen , I know this sounds silly but there is a button on the back that powers the LCD to three different stages, you can either turn it off (to save power)and it will be black or so just the image is in view and finally so you can see the image and the status of the battery/card ect. Sometimes it might get bumped and turn off/on without realizing it. Hope it helps :) As for taking longer videos, if you have the original card you won't get much time, need to buy a bigger card. I bought a 128 mb. If any one comes up with a solution for the lens please let me know.. I would love to have my camera working again. :) Oh yes, nearly forgot, Sony has an online live chat for tech support incase you have questions. Happy New Year all.. |

I set the lens cover to open position and glued it there. After, the camera worked fine withour errors. I have had the camera so long, I have misplaced the Cd. I recently took my computer in to have it cleaned and upgraded, failing to mention to keep the camera software. Please help!!!! Where can I find the imag transfer cd to go with my camera, I have searched for days on the net with no leads. HELP !! |

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S50 is a remarkable little camera. When I use something, I typically use it into the ground. So when I get a piece of electrical equipment, it needs to be able to take a little abuse.
