Snakes in a TheaterTwo live diamondback rattlesnakes were released in an Arizona movie theater during a showing of the new film "Snakes on a Plane," according to Local 6 News.
First-The movie was just as Scott's review says; a cheesy, popcorn munching, matinee type, thrill ride. It sure kept your attention. Even when you knew what was coming, it served it up well. It had me and every other guy in the theater crossing our legs at one point.
Second-When I read the blurb Scott put up about the two snakes being released during a showing of the movie at a Phoenix theatre (the metro area I live in), I was at first skeptical, thinking that maybe it was one of those rumors that gains legs and gets reported as fact across the country. I hadn't heard about it though I keep up with local news from several types of media. This is the kind of thing that would usually lead a local newscast. My wife hadn't heard anything either. So I called the theatre. The customer service person, at my asking the question of whether there had been an incident, said she would get a manager. I knew it was most likely true then. The manager came and calmly said. "Yes, we had an incident; but we handled it." I said that must have been very freaky. She very calmly said that things happen everyday.
Yeah lady, but not snakes! Either I just missed this story totally or they went out of their way to stifle publicity about it locally the best they could so as not to lose customers. That theatre has 18 screens, and it would have cost them a pretty penny if people had stayed away for awhile out of fear.
