btw - Say why you voted either way.

I voted that the Republicans will keep both. The reason is that the public discontent is highly exaggerated. While people aren't 100% happy with the Iraq War, there is a low unemployment rate, low inflation rate, booming stock market, and low taxes. Let's not forget that fact that no one has attacked America since 9/11.

If the Republicans keep the House it will be a minor miracle. There are just too many republican held seats in play. Even if the dems only win half of the contested seats (and they are liekly to win more) they will still have a majority.

I picked just the House. A lot of polls show them expected to pick up about 20 plus seats. They only need 15. But polls are not a perfect predictor, so anything can happen.

If I had to pick one option, I'd say the House only. But I'm by no means absolutely certain of that. We'll see soon enough.

Republicans keep both. I'll have my details in another thread here shortly.

Is the Democrat victory in the House a huge surprise? Reports here suggest voter dissatisfaction with events in Iraq were instrumental in the swing to the Democrats. If this is true then the Presidential race for 2008 is wide open.

Regards Bob.

Same here, Bob. The war is a big issue!

DC guy, you were wrong pal. Any comments?

Presently our government looks strong, partly due to the ineptitude of the opposition, but it does not mean there will be no voter backlash at the next election. Iraq is on the nose with the electorate, yeterday's interest rate rise has triggered widespread grumbling and the 'Green' vote is gathering momentum.

I think this midterm result might be a pointer to the future direction of voter intention in 2008.

Regards Bob.

Its going to be interesting to see how this plays out. The recounts will start soon, and now we're going to get to watch the Democrats reorganize the House.

I've got a lot of work to do.

It seems you're gonna have your hands full DC. How prepared are you for the first femal President of the USA?

This I can almost guarantee won't happen now. After two years of Democratic control of the House and possibly the Senate, it'll be next to impossible for them to win the White House, especially if we're still in Iraq.

What sucks is that we can't just leave Iraq. I hope that the Dems aren't in such a hurry to please voters that they leave.
