For those of you who are voting, please let us know how things went at the polls today.

-----------------------------------

I voted this morning at around 8:00. It took about 45 minutes to get through the line. I vote in every election, including every primary. The only time I have to stand in line is during mid-terms and Presidential elections. The lines were about half as long as they were during the 2004 Presidential. It took me two hours to get through that line.

The weather was cold. This was in northern Virginia.

I just got back from voting. I was the only one there and it looked like it had been awhile since the last voter because i caught them off guard. It still took a couple of minutes because they've switched voting booths since last election and they wanted to show me how to use it first, though unless you have never voted or are mentally challenged, it's really unnecessary.

The last minute recruiters outside the voting station consisted of a small group of Republicans and one lone Democrat who hardly spoke English. His strategy was to hand me a list of the Democrats and point to the names and say, "Sestak! Congress!" (If you've ever seen Deadwood it was on par with Mr. Wong's "Swergin! C--ksucka!"). The Republicans sent out the female that was about my age to give me a quick talk. The gist of her low, rambled speech was that if i were considering voting Democrat simply because I was pissed at Bush than i should still vote for Republican Mario Civera for State Rep because he often votes with the Democrats and is not a 'yes man' to the party. Her appeal to reason was probably a bit more effect than the random shouting of names for catching anyone still unsure of which way they were going to vote.

All in all it was an unremarkable day at the voting booth, but I still walked away feeling mighty powerful.

I have a secret spot I go to vote. It's a small church in Old New Castle that no one even knows is a polling place. Took me two seconds to vote. I even voted for a Republican. I've always liked Castle.

As I posted elsewhere, I voted last week by mail in. On the way home from work they were talking on a news/talk radio station in the valley about long lines forming in quite a few polling places. I imagine as people get out of work and vote on their way home it will pick up.

There are a lot of propositions out here as well as some major contests between candidates. It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out. How wonderful that we can all have a part in this if we choose to.

I voted at the same place as dagian. It was about two hours later and I ran into the same Chinese guy and the same girl. I thought the girl was going to make-out with me. She referred to Casey Roncaglione as a "fluke".

Luckily, I was able to hit a big button that said REPUBLICAN and it filled out everything for me.

The Chinese guy's propaganda:

Hmmm, some pretty ugly mug shots there. Were the Republicans any better?

Regards Bob.
