Who is Gordon Lightfoot?

Today, I took the plunge and decided to try out Napster's trial subscription. I already have 10 GB's of music from all my CD's, but for some reason, it just isn't enough. Napster's got some deal where you can download any song you want and listen to it on your machine for 10 bucks a month.

After a few hours of messing around, I realize that I've got quite the interesting music collection. One of my friends, Steve, sent me a message asking how I was liked it and who had I downloaded so far.

Scott says: I've got an interesting collection going so far. Rage Against the Machine, Rza, Pigeon John, Operation Ivy, and Gordon Lightfoot.

Steve says: i know only RZA and Rage...

Scott says: lol. What?

Scott says: You never heard of Gordon Lightfoot?

Steve says: Lance Armstrong?

Scott says: Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald?

Steve says: Uhhhh... Copy the Document three times?

Scott says: Sundown, you better take care if I find you've been creeping 'round my backstairs.

Steve says: remember, i never listened to rap untill like last year

Scott says: 1970's acoustic guitarist.

Scott says: He's not a rapper.

Scott says: fag

Steve says: lol,

Steve says: have no-idea

Steve says: noob.. yes, i know

The funny part is that Steve is 30 years old. Which means he was at least alive when Gordon was in his prime. My parents played his tapes/records until they wore out.

I claim innocents. I was into METAL then. My favorite album was "Ride the Lightening" and "Master of Puppets"

"wreck of the edmund fitzgerald" has a tune that is annoyingly repetetive but it a good history lesson about the great lakes :)

I'm so glad it was Steve and not Scott who was lacking in his musical education. You are familiar with the classic greats and that gives me such peace as a mother.
