Recording wrestling does not allow me to watch wrestling

There are two things I record with fervent excitement using my new DVR: WWE Raw and WWE Smackdown.

While wrestling isn't at its peak in the entertainment department, I can easily fast forward through the crap so I can watch someone get smacked in the face with a chair. But this week has not been easy for me as I have not been able to watch my recording of Monday Night Raw yet.

At 10:00PM on Monday nights, Dawn watches one of her shows, Medium. This is a silly, little drama about a woman who solves crimes through dreams and talking to the dead. I'm not a fan, but I endure it as per our marriage contract that states I must watch three lame shows a week of my wife's choosing.

Monday
This past Monday night, Medium was not on due to some other "more important" show airing. While Dawn was sad at this discovery I quickly tried to brighten the situation by pointing out that Monday Night Raw is only half-over.

She was not thrilled.

After a few minutes, Dawn said there was another show on she wanted to watch. She threw in the logic of "you're recording this anyway" to force me to give up the controller. I watched her scroll through the list of shows and realized that I had been fooled.

"There isn't anything else on, is there?"

"Nope," she said with disappointment.

"You're going to hell for lying." With that, I snatched the remote and turned it back to wrestling.

"I'm going to bed." Dawn got up and headed for the stairs. I sighed and followed her.

Tuesday
After eating a round of leftovers, I acquired control of the remote to attempt to watch wrestling again.

"Do we have to watch this now?"

"When are we going to watch it, babe?" I said laughing.

"You have it recorded. You can watch it anytime."

That's when I realized that recording wrestling does not necessarily allow me to watch wrestling.

Your response should have been: 'Your right, and right now is a good time'

Holy crap! That's just too funny. I'm sure that most of us have been there as well. I don't get to watch too much TV throughout the week, but as for Sunday nights, the wife knows not to bug me.

So you went to bed instead of watching wrestling. Even though you were prepared to watch it if she would, and even though she does not want to watch wrestling.

Why do you only want to watch it if she's watching it too, even though she doesn't like it?

That is actually a rhetorical question. I do the exact same thing. Although I have given up now and watch my sci-fi in one room while she watches celebrity/reality shows in another.

RE: So you went to bed instead of watching wrestling.

Yeah. It gets late and I work early in the mornings. It's hard to stay motivated to lose sleep over TV when you're doing it alone.
