Xbox 360 remote control goes cutting edge

There are a ton of rumors flying around about the Xbox 360 including a $299 pricetag and the possible appearance of Half-life 3.

While I'm excited about all the potential hype, there is one item on the Xbox 360's remote control that I know will make my entertainment life cutting-edge. It's so cutting-edge that my wife may let me get an Xbox 360 in the near future because of this remote control.

Can you guess what it is?

That's right, it's an On/Off button. What a revolutionary idea. I mean, you can turn the Xbox 360 on and then turn it off, but you'll never have to leave your seat.

The Xbox 360 can now be added to the list of cutting-edge devices I own that can be powered on/off via a remote. These devices include, but are not limited to: My TV, VCR, Stereo, and Air Condition.

But seriously, this will be a selling point for my wife and the lack of the feature was one of the main things that I hated when I reviewed the original Xbox.

I agree dude, that's one of the best things they could have done. And why in the world this wasn't an option with the first xbox or ps2 is way beyond me.
I can't wait for it all to come out though, its going to be off the hook

The remote for the PS2 CAN be used reset or turn the system on and off and you can also use it to open and close it just like a DVD player so I dont see how this is so "revolutionary"

I think PS2 can have an on/off button on a remote because unlike the xbox it doesn;t switch off it goes into stand by. With the old Xbox it completely shut down and so the sensor had no power to recognise the remote telling it to switch on and off.

What I am wondering is if the 360 will go into stand by, allowing you to use the remote for turn on, or will it be just for the universal side of the remote, eg. turning on your TV.

Just got a 360 this past weekend. You can turn it on, off, and on again.
